Cheap frills for the garden
there are bargains to be found in the garden furniture sales and i've done the hard work for you
Another scorchio week! I’m doing lots of hiking at the moment, training for a mega 50 mile, 8 peak challenge in October, and this heat is hard to walk in. Even up in the hills, I really notice the difference, I’m drinking more and I probably need to size up my camelbac. But on the plus side, it has been absolutely beautiful and spending time in the Shropshire Hills is my perfect antidote to the end of term craziness.
When I do have time to chill, the only place I want to be is out in the garden, either tending to my tomato plants or drinking tea in the sunshine. So this week I’ve been thinking about garden furniture - anything that can make this gift of a British summer even better. Lucky for you, the sales are on. I’ve searched high and low for the best bargains and these are my top picks:
This cute table from La Redoute, reduced to £259.99 from £399.99. It is made from rattan and woven resin, it is weather-resistant and the colours are fun and fabulous.
This incredibly good value 4-seater set from Habitat, reduced to £100.50 from £150. I love the colour, and it would look amazing with some patterned cushions. It’s so Miami chic. It comes in yellow too but the orange has my heart. Perfect for drinks with friends.
Dunelm’s little bistro set made from powder-coated steel and rattan, £64.50 reduced from £129. A total bargain and really fresh and fun. This would look fabulous in a little courtyard garden. It looks comfortable too, which not all garden chairs are…
Isn’t this George at Asda set great? Another bargain at £239.20, reduced from £299. It is a good alternative to the popular Hay Palissade set, which is popular with garden designers and will set you back more like 1.5K.
This beach chair from Graham & Green, £202.30, reduced from £289, is just so gorgeous to look at. I love sitting on the grass and this is the perfect way to elevate that experience a little. It would work well for a picnic or for just hanging out in a wildflower meadow with a book…as you do!
The tasselled canopy from Cox&Cox, £47.50 reduced from £95, would be a great addition to the garden. Add shade where you want it. I love the idea of it in an orchard, creating a little hide-out space or the prettiest spot to sit with an apero.
I’m very boring when it comes to patterns outside and I really love a good stripe. These outdoor cushions from John Lewis are a super price at £12 and would work with pretty much any garden furniture. Or just scattered on a picnic blanket on the lawn.
This Sarah Raven lantern set has been reduced to £55.97 from £79.95. I love lanterns in the garden and the three contrasting sizes look lovely as a group.
That’s all for today folks. Until next Friday! V x
